QUIT SMOKING
Smoking increases your chance of having lung cancer, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases. Educate children and encourage them not to start smoking as they grow older. Adult should giive up smoking and become role model to the children.
The role of exercise in maintaining a healthy body and mind can never be emphasized enough. Exercise keeps us young physically and mentally. regular exercise helps us to maintain a healthy weight, reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and osteoporosis. It helps us sleep better.
Walking is the best form of exercise. It is low impact and is suitable for all ages. To maintain a healthy heart you must walk at least 3 days week for minimum 30 minutes. However if you can walk daily it is even better especially of you on a weight loss program. Swimming and bike riding are other forms of exercise that are recommended. Nowadays many people are doing yoga, pilates and Tai chi. These forms of exercises are very good in toning our muscles.
Meditation relieves stress and we all need it. Find some time for yourself, sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes and just focus on you breathing. Fill your mind with happy thoughts and sit quietly. Try to do this everyday preferably in the morning even if it is only for a few minutes.
